The Marines’ Memorial Association & Foundation Scholarship Program is now officially closed as of 16 March 2025. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who applied for the 2025-26 Academic Year.
Our program is dedicated to recognizing and supporting outstanding students who embody our mission to Commemorate, Educate, and Serve. Scholarships will be awarded to the most talented and qualified applicants, helping them achieve their educational aspirations.
Applicants will be notified of award decisions no later than 15 June 2025.

Scholarship Program FAQs
Dr. Nancy M. Schonher Scholarship
Members Gerald and Nancy Thomas established the Dr. Nancy M. Schonher Scholarship to honor Nancy’s mother Dr. Nancy M. Schonher, M.D., a US Naval Officer and served as one of the first female military physicians during the latter months of WWII. This scholarship awards one (1) $5,000 to an applicant who:
- Is female and meets ONE of the following:
- Is an active-duty service member or a reservist in the US Armed Forces
- Has separated honorably from US Armed Forces since 2016
- Is a current or former corpsman or medic in any branch of US Armed Forces
- Is a child or grandchild of an active Marines’ Memorial member
- Attends one of the following during the 2025-2026 school year:
- An advanced Medical program with the goal of becoming a nurse, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, or medical doctor (MD or OD) from an accredited American college or university
- An accredited Paramedic program (candidates for this option must have completed the EMT Basic training program, have taken the National Registry EMT Examination, hold an EMT Certificate, and have at least 6 months’ work experience)
- Preference will be given to Navy Corpsmen
