For 70 years, the Marines in Joe Rosenthal’s iconic photo were identified as Cpl Block, PFC Gagnon, PhM2c Bradley, Sgt Strank, PFC Sousley, PFC Hayes. In 2015, General Neller tasked our own LtGen Jan Huly to look into the theory that an inadvertent mistake had been made and one of the flag raisers had been misidentified. General Huly talked about his process to set history straight and correctly identify all the flag raisers in one of the most important photos in American history.Watch Video
