Thank you for your interest in the Marines’ Memorial Scholarship Program! Below are the most frequently asked questions about the program and application process. Due to the high volume of calls and emails about the Scholarship Program, we recommend you read the questions below before contacting the Marines’ Memorial staff. All application materials must be submitted through the online application no later than Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT. Applications that are completed but not
submitted will not be considered.
For the 2026-27 academic year, applicants must meet at least one of the following eligibility categories:
1. Active Marines’ Memorial Member, or the child or grandchild of an active Marines’ Memorial Member

2. Active-duty service member or Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
(Marines’ Memorial membership may or may not be required, depending on the
scholarship)
3. Spouse or child of an active-duty service member or Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
Note: Only five (5) scholarships are available that do not require Marines’ Memorial
membership. All other eligibility and application requirements must still be met.
No. Applicants who have accepted an appointment to any U.S. Federal Service Academy (e.g., USNA, USAFA, USMA, USCGA) at the time of award.
No. To avoid conflicts of interest, employees, members of the Board of Directors, and
their immediate family members—including grandchildren and in-laws—are not eligible to apply for Marines’ Memorial Scholarships.
Yes. For the 2026–2027 academic year, each applicant completes one online application and must indicate all scholarships for which they are qualified and wish to be considered. While applicants are automatically matched to applicable scholarships, this step allows staff to verify eligibility for any additional awards.
No. Applicants may submit one (1) letter of recommendation for all scholarships. The
letter must be uploaded in PDF format only. Separate letters for each scholarship are not required.
The letter of recommendation must be uploaded by the applicant as part of the online
application and must be in PDF format only. No other file formats will be accepted.
Note: Applications submitted without a letter of recommendation or not in .PDF format will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed for a scholarship award.
No. Only the student may complete the application. Applications submitted by someone other than the student will not be considered.
Yes. If you meet the specific scholarship criteria, you may apply.
NOTE: Applicants pursuing an additional graduate degree (beyond the first master’s) or any doctoral program are not eligible to apply.
Yes. If you meet the specific scholarship criteria, you may apply.
No. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or returning college students.
High school juniors are not eligible; however, we look forward to your application when you are a senior.
Yes. Scholarship funds are intended to cover tuition and other educational expenses.
Scholarship checks are payable directly to the awardee’s school. If you have questions
about whether a scholarship will affect your GI Bill tuition assistance, please contact your college’s admissions office or Student Veteran Center. For further questions, email scholarships@mmaf1946.org.
No. PDF format is the only acceptable file type for submissions.
