  1. This is the #1 Athletic Club in America as ranked by the Platinum Clubs of America. Outstanding historic-but-updated facility. I use the club every time I am in town and am always impressed. Guest rooms are as good as any top-line hotel. Situated next to the Detroit Tigers ballpark and overnight guests can view games from the rooftop terrace. Also next to the Detroit Lions stadium, also a frequent concert venue. My favorite club features: sauna, steam room, and whirlpool (the "Tri-bath-alon").
  2. Overnight stays from 10-13 August 2012. Tim Kearny, desk manager was helpful and made arrangements for the stay. The club is very elegant and the room was excellent, large and nicely appointed. Parking was free and breakfast was included for the weekend mornings. Cost was $210/night plus tax (total $233). The only glitch was when I came back from visiting family the evening of the 12th, I was told by the night person that he was instructed to "escort" us to the room and note when we left....They had us down as departing the 12th instead of the 13th and it created a little moment as it seemed we weren't going to be able to stay overnight and they could not contact Mr. Kearny to confirm the dates (I had the e-mail string fortunately). Eventually we were allowed back to the room, but it was a little mortifying. If you want to be close to most Detroit attractions and stay in a comfortable location, the DAC would be a good choice; just ensure you confirm the dates you are staying.
