What Our Patrons Have to Say

Semper Find
I had the pleasure of dining at one of San Francisco’s most overlooked restaurants the other night when former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa invited me out to the Leatherneck Steakhouse. The Leatherneck, atop the Marines’ Memorial Club on Sutter Street near the bottom of Nob Hill, has been around almost as long as I have. To be honest, I couldn’t remember the last time I set foot in the place. What a surprise. It still has one of the best views of the city skyline you will find, and they had a brother on the piano playing show tunes and light jazz. It was right out of “Green Book.” I had the chicken. It was as good as what my grandmother made. You could cut it with a fork. But you’d better get there early. The last dinner sitting is at 8:45.

Come during sunset!
Come during sunset! You will catch the most beautiful view of the city below from the windows. When it starts getting dark, you can gradually see the transition of all the city lights coming on. There are only 8 window tables so definitely make a request and a reservation ahead of time. I love that the complimentary bread comes with a whole roasted garlic with the butter and olive oil. The sides are $12 each and serves two people with their size. We ended up having leftovers, so the portions here are great! For appetizers we ordered the Baked Oysters. I'm very picky when it comes to seafood, and these oysters blew me away. You couldn't even taste it! I absolutely loved the Creamed Spinach they incorporated with a drizzle of lemon. The steaks here are d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s and cooked perfectly upon request which is paired up with your choice of sauce; I personally chose their signature Leatherneck Steak Sauce and this was amazing, I'll definitely stick with this the next time I come back. So many spices are used in their seasoning so it really makes the entire steak phenomenal. I also noticed how they bring out the food in such a timely manner one at a time, making sure we're ready for the next course. We came for a birthday reservation for my boyfriend and they gave a compliment Blueberry Compote Cheesecake. This was one of the most delicious cheesecakes I've ever had in my life! The whipped cream tasted fresh and not too sweet. The crust was to my surprise, unexpectedly very delicious too. I was not expecting to love Leatherneck Steakhouse this much. It's probably one of the most underrated restaurants with the most stunning view of the city. I'm unapologetically going to admit that of my biggest pet peeves when coming to a restaurant is loud, crying children. I love how intimate the setting is here and it does seem to lean more towards adults who dine in here. There's also a dress code as well, so make sure you look well-presented!

Very good and I will return.
I recently had a business lunch at the Leatherneck Steakhouse and it was very good. Great view from the 12th floor of the Marines Memorial building. We all ordered steaks and all those at my table enjoyed their meal. We enjoyed a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot and I thought the wine pricing was fair. The bar is closed for lunch but they were happy to accommodate us with a Coffee Royal with our dessert. The service was very good and we were not rushed. Overall it was very good and I will return.

Excellent food, outstanding service.
Front desk- great customer service- she welcomes you open arms. Very difficult to find employees like Edda. Leatherneck Steakhouse is very fortunate to have her. Our waitress Gabby another outstanding employee. Great customer service. It was my friends birthday and I ask her if we could acknowledge his birthday after lunch. She brought the whole staff and sang happy birthday. Excellent food, outstanding service, excellent view of the City and very happy customers. Thank you Edda and Gabby.!!!
