ABOUT: CAPT. DAVE CAREY, USN (RET)

Capt. Dave Carey, USN (Ret.), is a decorated Navy pilot and former prisoner of war who survived more than five years in North Vietnamese prison camps, including the Hanoi Hilton. Shot down in 1967, he endured years of isolation and hardship, relying on resilience, faith and the strength of fellow service members to survive.

Following his release in 1973, he continued his naval career, retiring as a captain after 28 years of service. Today, he reflects on the lessons forged through service and adversity, offering a perspective grounded in perseverance, connection and the enduring meaning of a life of service.
