Spring 1955. I, a new member of the Marine Detachment USS Hornet. After 10 at sea days out of San Diego we sailed under the Golden Gate and into S.F. My first visit to S.F. and my introduction to our wonderful club. My buddies and I didn’t have much money, but we didn’t need much. The rooms were cheap, the food good and plentiful, and the bar was open. We roamed the city, people were so nice to us, We spent our evenings socializing at the club. Outstanding weekend of never forgotten memories. Sixty six years later those memories and the ones you are making for today’s service people keep me paying my annual dues.
