In June of 1954, after a couple of weeks at sea, I returned to Treasure Island from a thirteen month tour in Korea with 1/7. We were ushered to the Marines' Memorial for an overnight stay. After several hours on the town, we returned to the hotel. I found myself in pretty bad shape and could not find my room. After about two hours, I found the room. It was approaching dawn and I finally was able to bed down for a couple of hours. Then off to the airport for my flight to Chicago Midway Airport where my love, Alice, was waiting for me together with our nine month old daughter, Peggy.
Thanks to the Marines' Memorial for being there to get me started back to home and family.
