Mike Pereira
Founder & Former VP of NFL Officiating

Guest Speaker: Mike Pereira, Founder of Battlefields to Ballfields

Mike Pereira will discuss his motivation and the successes he has brought to the returning service persons. Mike’s lifelong commitment to refereeing football and obvious success with Fox Sports, consulting on air about rules and applications along with returning Veterans who have the necessary discipline needed to deal with conflicts has lead him to look for candidates with these attributes. Returning Veterans who have this discipline and can use it to help them adjust to civilian life are an obvious target. The lack of referees in many sports opens up the need for these people. This is a national audience for Battlefield to Ballfields. The Scholarships support the education and uniforms needed to participate. Mike is looking for candidates to participate.

Mike officiated football for 25 years before entering the National Football League. He started officiating Pop Warner games in 1971. He ran the officiating program in the NFL for 12 years before becoming a rules analyst for Fox Sports NFL and college football telecasts.

About Battlefields to Ballfields

Battlefields to Ballfields provides veterans an opportunity to integrate back into their communities through officiating and scholarships.

Many Veterans face an uphill battle when they return as they figure out how they will integrate back into society. This has become the impetus for a new foundation, “Battlefields to Ballfields.’’
The Foundation will provide scholarships to veterans who return from defending our country with an opportunity to get integrated back into their community through officiating.

In serving in the military, and in officiating, there’s the common bond of being a member of a team and creating order out of chaos. Battlefields to Ballfields will provide these veterans with an opportunity to hone their newfound officiating skills and participate in something that will give them a new sense of self-worth along with the ability to make some extra income. While the ultimate goal will be to get some of our returning veterans into the upper levels of officiating, including the professional ranks, they will start out at the local level working high school and youth level games.

Battlefields to Ballfields is looking for Veteran candidates to participate!
